Abstract

This study focuses on investigating the mediation effect of organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB) on the relationship of organizational communication, team-cohesiveness and project success in the construction context of Sri Lanka. This study has adopted a quantitative research strategy and used Project Managers as respondents. The response rate was 66%. The statistical approach includes PLSSEM and Smart PLS3 software. According to results, OCB has a partial mediation effect on the relationship of team-cohesiveness and organizational communication to construction project success. Team-cohesiveness, organizational communication and OCB together can explain 31% of the variance of construction project success. Therefore, it can be recommended that promoting organizational communication and team-cohesiveness is an effective strategy to influence project performance through OCB. The significance of this paper is that this may be the first to investigate this particular phenomenon in the context of construction project management.
