Abstract

The objective of this research is to fi nd the impact of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems used in Sri Lankan apparel manufacturing organizations which are catering mainly for the export market. As an outcome of the research, a generic framework has been developed to evaluate the value addition by ERP   systems in apparel   manufacturing organizations. This framework can be used as a tool to monitor the performance over a period of time and ensure that the organization is receiving the maximum benefits of the implementation.  Hence the strategic management can be more confident about the return on the investment (ROI) of the ERP system.  Finally the proposed framework has been applied on a Sri Lankan apparel manufacturing company and the results given by the framework are analyzed and discussed against the actual performance of the company over the years in order to test the accuracy of the framework.
