RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ENTREPRENEURIAL ORIENTATION AND INTERNATIONALIZATION OF FIRMS IN SRI LANKA

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between Entrepreneurial Orientation and the firms’ level of internationalization in the Sri Lankan context. A Model was developed to understand the causal relationship of the Entrepreneurial Orientation variable and firms internationalization. Data was collected using a questionnaire from 91 export firms in various sectors of exports. Findings indicate that Entrepreneurial Orientation is positively related to internationalization. It can be concluded that entrepreneurial orientation is critical to firms’ development, irrespective of the markets in which they operate. Entrepreneurial Orientation will contribute to innovation and new venture creation which is needed to develop the industry and the country’s economy. Entrepreneurial Orientation coupled with the organizational strategy will determine the success of the firm in the long run.
