Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word formats.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is typed using the template provided in the website.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Authors are expected to register and obtain a user account in the manuscript submission system via http://journals.sjp.ac.lk in order to submit an article. From this account, authors will be able to monitor a submission and make subsequent revisions.

Hardcopy submissions or submissions via email to the editors-in-chief are not accepted. All contributions should be written in English and they will be reviewed by at least two independent experts. Authors are strongly encouraged to typeset their submissions using the template file. This download includes detailed PDF instructions on typesetting equations, preparing figures and formatting references.

The following points are brief guidelines which should be followed at a minimum:

  • All pages should be numbered consecutively. Tables and figures may be embedded within the text.
  • Main body of the text should begin with the title at the top followed by the abstract as given in the manuscript template.
  • Immediately following the abstract, a list of 5-10 keywords are to be supplied. These terms should be relatively independent (coordinate index terms), and as a group should optimally characterize the paper.
  • In order to ensure a blind review process, authors are not expected to insert their names and affiliations anywhere in the main body of the manuscript submitted for review. Names and affiliations must be included only in the final manuscript submitted for publication.
  • Footnotes, other than those referring to acknowledgements and information on grants, should be numbered alphabetically and placed at the end of a manuscript page (not to be listed separately).

Any manuscript which does not conform to the above instructions may be returned to authors for revision before publication.

Authors may include color images in the article. However, color images will be published only in the online version of the journal. All color images will be converted to gray-scale in the print version.

All accepted manuscripts will be published in the journal free of charge. There are no page charges or publication charges.
