An Interpretive Study of Communication Strategies Revealed in Sri Lankan Sinhalese Riddles

In a system recognized as a Sri Lankan folk culture, Sinhala folk riddles is a communication method used in the past to measure the fun and intelligence of rural people. Literary riddles and village riddles are important here. Does this understanding, which is used as a communication method, contribute to the development of individual intelligence and the development of group intelligence? The primary purpose of the research is to study these problems and educate the society by focusing on these Sinhala riddles of cultural value without allowing them to perish in the current social system that has technology at the force. This is qualitative research. A literature study as well as field study methods were used for data collection. The study was conducted with a sample of 10 poets and traditional Hewisi musicians and Raban players. The findings of the study revealed that literary riddles as well as folk riddles contribute to the development of individual and group intelligence. The conclusion of the research is that the community should be informed about these Sinhala people's riddles which contribute to the development of individual intelligence as well as the importance of entertainment among communication methods.
