About the Journal
The Journal of Intangible Cultural Heritage (JICH) aims to promote scholarly work on Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). It is devoted to introducing and disseminate knowledge on important and timely topics on ICH by publishing high – quality research and scholarly articles in the domains of ICH.
JICH is an online, peer reviewed, open access, biannually published journal. To reach for a wider audience the journal accepts original research articles, review articles and book reviews written in Sinhala, Tamil or English languages.
The journal welcomes research and scholarly articles under the following five broad ‘domains’ proposed by UNESCO’s 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
- Oral traditions and expressions
- Performing arts
- Social practices, rituals and festive events
- Knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe
- Traditional craftsmanship
