About the Journal
The discourse on gender has garnered considerable attention in recent times, with scholars from various disciplines focusing on this topic within the context of their respective research areas. Reflecting this academic interest, the Equal Opportunity Cell of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura has launched an electronic journal on gender studies, titled ‘Pumithiri’ in 2021. This journal serves as a platform for disseminating scholarly articles authored by academics, researchers, and interest groups dedicated to gender studies.

‘පුමිතිරි’ (Pumithiri) Peer-Reviewed e-Journal of Gender Studies is an online academic publication dedicated to the critical analysis and interdisciplinary exploration of gender-related issues. The journal aims to provide a platform for scholarly research and discussion on diverse dimensions of gender, including gender inequality, gender-based violence, gender identity, sexuality, women’s rights, and other emerging issues in Gender Studies.
The First Issue of Volume 3 features scholarly contributions across the following thematic areas:
