THE ENTREPRENEURIAL MANAGEMENT LEADERSHIP AND ORGANIZATIONAL SUCCESS – A SOCIO-MANAGEMENT STUDY: THE CASE OF LAKSHMI APPAREL GARMENT FACTORY, MAHARAGAMA, SRI LANKA

Abstract

In general understanding, the leadership means the ability to influence on the behavior of somebody or a group of persons in order to achieve a given objective. Leadership in turn is a highly concerned matter in the field of Management, and accordingly it eventually results organizational success. Indeed the management perspective assumes that the leadership is a crucial factor in determining the success of any organization. The entrepreneurial management leadership that is directly in relation to the organizational success, is comprised of certain qualities such as maximizing profit, enhancing the share of the competitive market, fulfilling social responsibilities and services, contributing to total economic development of the country, being one of the best entrepreneurs of the relevant field, introducing innovative products to the market and so on. The aim of the study was to examine the practicality of the above qualities. The sample was comprised of forty workers and ten supervisors in Laksmi Garment factory at Maharagama. Data collection methods included questionnaire, semistructured interview, observation, and also case studies where necessary. The data analysis was mainly done by the use of SPSS package, which was related to the analysis of primary data, whereas qualitative findings were thoroughly applied so as to enhance the quality of the findings. According to findings, the type of leadership was found to be enormously important in organizational success, and the support of the subordinate to the leader was identified to be a fact of a crucial significance. Based on the above findings, it can be recommended that merely the formal Management leadership is not the matter in relation to the organizational success, but certain leadership qualities which could be achieved by the Manager himself.
