MANAGERIAL EFFECTIVENESS AND ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF BANKS IN JAFFNA

Abstract

The managers make strategic planning for organizational performance. The main objective of this research is to find out whether there is effective management in order to achieve organizational performance. In this study the problem is “To what extent managerial effectiveness leads to organizational performance?”To attain these goals, distinctive methodologies which are consistence with the previous research studies have been used.Peoples bank, bank of Ceylon and commercial bank have been selected. Eight managers are selected from Peoples bank, bank of Ceylon and one manager is also selected from commercial bank. To get the final conclusion percentage, correlation, and rank correlation analysis were used to relevant findings. Age,Experience and qualification are not major factors to determine the managerial effectiveness.Seventeen managers are included in this research .among these managers ten managers are effective managers and seven managers are ineffective managers based on the statistical analysis. There is a positive relationship between the managerial effectiveness and organizational performance .Skill and characteristics are the major factors that determine the managerial effectiveness and also private sector has better performance Rather than public sector.
