The available literature does not provide emperical evidence of the perception of employees on the effectiveness of the T&D programs in Sri Lanka. Therefore this study emperically investigated the perception of the employees towards training and development to describe the perception level of the employees towards the effectiveness of T&D programs, to determine the other factors which influence the T&D programs and to differentiate the effectiveness of T&D programs based on demographic factors (Gender, Age, Education Level, Length of Service). A structured, questionnaire has used with the likert scale of 5 points to collect the data and data were analyzed by using the SPSS V.16, T-test and ANOVA tables and Pearson Correlation analysis. According to the findings there is no difference betweendemographic factors towards the perception on the effectiveness of T& Development Programs but there is a significant relationship between the other factors and the effectiveness of the T&Development Programs.Perception of respondents is neutral representing 51.7% and followed by the positive level of perception of 48.3%. There is no negative perception towards the effectiveness of T&D programs. The neutral and positive level of perception shows that T&D programs are suitable for the organizations and by conducting effective T&D programs it is possible to increase the effectiveness of the employees. Computer Softwares, Time Management, and Foreign Language are the most demanded T&D Programs by the Employees.
