About the Journal

The Journal of Real Estate Studies (JRES) from July 2008 was formerly known as the Sri Lankan Journal of Real Estate (SLJRE) and the new name came in to effect from the Volume 20 Issue 01 [2023 January] onwards.

Focus and Scope

The Centre for Real Estate Studies (CRES) the research arm of the Department of Estate Management and Valuation, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, encourages research and publications in the field by publishing the "Journal of Real Estate Studies", which is an indexed research journal for the benefit of countries around the world.

The main purpose of this journal is to encourage academicians, researchers, practicing  professionals, policy makers, and students, through research & publications, consultancy projects and enhance human capital through training and development in real estate and allied fields.

We aimed at disseminating high quality scientific real estate knowledge among the stakeholders to achieve the supreme standards of patient care in a holistic manner throughout Asia and beyond. The journal provides open access to its content to the public with the aim of disseminating the scientific knowledge to a wider audience.

In this age of digital hyperconnectivity, we feel it is possible to collaborate and synergize across national borders and showcase our unique identities in real estate. Followings are the major areas of the field to which the journal will dedicate.
 
Hereby, the Department cordially invites prospective researchers, academics, professionals, students and other interested individuals to contribute by sending your valuable research papers/articles to be published in the "Journal of Real Estate Studies".

Objectives of the Journal of Real Estate Studies

  • To encourage scientific and systematic research and publications in the field of Real Estate Management and Valuation
  • To further strengthen the industry and the university links through research and publications
  • To assist decision making and implementation process of the country with regard to the Real Estate by providing systematic and scientific data and information

The journal is currently indexed in EBSCOhost databases. 

The nature of the journal

This is an indexed journal published by the Department of Estate Management and Valuation annually in December. Papers received on or before 15th October in every year are considered for the publication of the year. The Department and the Editorial Board reserve the right to determine the format and the style of the journals.

The CRES will commit to publish only the original contributions to the field of real estate by respective authors from countries around the world.

Peer Review Process

Each prospective article will be blind-reviewed.

Publication Frequency

The journal publishes two issues and special/ supplementary issues (only for special events, if any happening in respective years) each year.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. There is no embargo on the journal’s publications. Authors of articles published remain the copyright holders and grant third parties the right to use, reproduce, and share the article according to the Creative Commons license agreement.

Guidelines for contributors

  • Authors should follow the prescribed paper template. 
  • Sri Lankan Journal of Real Estate welcomes original research articles (6000- 8000 words) and research notes (2000-3000 words)
  • Language of the journal is English.
  • Articles must include an abstract (not more than 150 words) with five key words (not more than 05 words), body of text, and a list of references (preferably less than 15 core references)
  • Authors of papers/articles should indicate the full name(s), affiliations, and contact details (TP numbers and e- mail addresses) after the abstract
  • Figures and tables are permitted only in black and white and limited space will be used for figures and tables
  • All citations within the text and the list of references should be made according to the �APA Style�
  • Manuscript of research papers/articles, which ensure a high accuracy of language (grammar, punctuations, spellings etc), should be typed in double spacing on one side of A4 papers using 12 font size of Times New Roman.
  • Manuscript should be submitted to the Editor- in-Chief of the journal via the online journal system.
  • Having blindly reviewed of each manuscript, comments of reviewer(s) or decisions of the Editorial Board will be made available to the respective author(s).
  • Once a paper is accepted, the author can not republish it without prior permission of the Editor-in-Chief of JRES. 
  • All the communication should be made through the Editor- in-Chief of JRES.

Peer Review Process

  1. All the received manuscripts will go through an internal preliminary screening before reviewer assignment. This initial screening process is basically carried out to ensure that submissions are within the scope of the journal and if those meet specifications/ guidelines prescribed by the journal. If the paper fails at this screening stage due to failure to follow the given guidelines, the manuscript will be re-sent to the respective author/s for making required changes. Maximum of two weeks will usually be given for the author/s to improve the standard of the paper and resubmit to the original submission.
  2. Once the preliminary screening is successfully completed, the paper will be forwarded to two external local/ international reviewers for blind-review along with the Reviewer's Evaluation forms. The reviewers will be requested to send comments and evaluation forms within four 2-4 weeks.
  3. Once the comments and evaluation forms are received from the reviewers, they will be forwarded to the respective author/s for consideration. The authors will be given 1 - 2 weeks in which to do the improvements and make the final submission.
  4. Once the final submission is made, an acceptance notification along with publishing volume details will be sent to the authors.

Article Processing Charges

There are no article processing charges.
