Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

  • Format: Article files should be provided in Microsoft Word format.
  • Language: English
  • Article length / word count: Articles should be between 6000 to  8000 words in length. This includes all text, for example, the structured abstract, references, all text in tables, and figures and appendices.
  • Article title: A concisely worded title should be provided. Maximum two lines
  • Author(s) details:
    • Author name (All co-authors names should be carefully indicated)
    • Author email address (institutional preferred)
    • Contact number/s of corresponding author
    • Author affiliation should be based where they were when the research was conducted for the paper
    • ORCID number
  • Abstract: Word limit between 250-300, Should briefly note the problem, purpose, methods, results and the gap/originality
  • Keywords: Maximum five- listed according to the alphabetical order
  • Body of the text: Introduction, Literature Review, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgement, List of Reference
  • Tables and Figures:
    • All figures (charts, diagrams, maps and photographic images) should be submitted electronically. Both colour and black and white files are accepted
    • All tables and figures should be appropriately placed and labelled in the text. Numbering should be consecutive with Arabic Numbers
  • Referencing: In-text citation and list of reference should follow the APA style. Minimum 25 and maximum 40 references are recommended
  • Submission: Manuscript should be submitted to the Editor- in-Chief of the journal via the online journal system./or email to: jres@sjp.ac.lk
  • Notification: All papers follow a blind review process with minimum two reviewers and comments, editorial board decision to accept or reject will be notified to the corresponding author
  • Copy rights: Once a paper is accepted, the author cannot republish it without prior permission of the Editor-in-Chief of JRES
  • Inquiries: All the communication should be made through the Editor- in-Chief of JRES.
